Milo at work
Creativity for Kids and Adults...
Ann Brown, retired FCPS art teacher, and Milo Rickert, up and coming clay artist, are offering summertime classes in art and clay for kids and adults on a farm just outside of Poolesville.
Clay Camp for Women!, the adult program, is all about clay. Participants have the opportunity to learn a variety of hand-building techniques. For those interested in learning how to work on the wheel, individual classes can be arranged. Classes are held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during Spring, Summer and Fall sessions. Please go to the page labeled Clay Camp for Women! for more information, and/or to sign up.
Children's classes, conducted by Milo, are for ages 8 and above and cover a wider range of media. Clay is a big component, but over the years we have expanded to other crafts like tie-dye, batik, print making and basket weaving. During snack break, kids have time to play with the foster puppies and hang out with the goats.
The kids meet from 9:00 am to noon, Monday through Thursday. There are six separate weeks of classes; anyone can sign up for one or several weeks; the maximum class size is eight.
