Ann Brown, retired FCPS art teacher and long-time Poolesville resident, is offering classes in art and clay for kids and adults this summer on a farm just outside of Poolesville.
Clay Camp for Women!, the adult program, is all about clay. Participants have the opportunity to learn a variety of hand-building techniques. For those interested in learning how to work on the wheel, individual classes can be arranged. Classes are held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during Spring, Summer and Fall sessions. Please go to the page labeled Clay Camp for Women! for more information, and/or to sign up.
Children's classes, for ages 8 and above, cover a wider range of media. Clay is a big component, but over the years we have expanded to other crafts like tie-dye, batik, print making and basket weaving. During snack break, kids have time to play with the foster puppies and visit the chickens and goats.
The kids meet from 9:00 am to noon, Monday through Thursday. There are six separate weeks of classes; anyone can sign up for one or several weeks; the maximum class size is six.
